WHAT TO EXPECT
What to expect at IPFAC
Once again welcome to IPFA Church website. We are glad you have dropped by to check us out online.
We understand that you may have a few questions about IPFA Church in making your decision whether or not to visit in person. Here are 10 questions we are commonly asked about IPFA Church services.
1. Where and when do you meet?
We meet every Sunday. We start our Sunday morning services at 10am. In addition, we have House fellowship meeting from 5.00pm every Sunday.
2. What should I wear?
We are a contemporary church and dress in an informal manner. Our minister will not be in robes. We are more concerned about you being comfortable and relaxed than the clothes you wear. Many of our members spend their working week in suits and ties and as such prefer to dress more casually on Sundays. Of course, if you do want to wear a suit or your “Sunday best”, feel free to do so.
3. What do you do?
We believe your relationship with God is important. While “religion” often carries a connotation of robes, holy water and a pipe organ, you will not find those at IPFAC. We endeavour to present our services in a creative and fresh way that encourages you on your journey to know God and to live for His Glory.
Our services have contemporary music and very relevant biblical teaching.
If you have children, Kids Team will ensure they are well looked after and have a fun time throughout the service time.
Once a month we celebrate Holy Communion. This is simply a time to remember the sacrifice of Christ.
Our services also include an opportunity to give financially, which we call tithes and offerings. . . the next question has more on this!
We also include an opportunity for anyone who would like to commit to being a Christian to do so. A Christian is simply a follower of Christ. Question 7 has more in this regard.
4. Do I have to give money?
Giving tithes and offerings is for those who are part of the IPFA church community.
You are our guest. We want you to sit back and receive, not feel compelled to give.
When this time in the service approaches, feel free to remain seated as others walk to the isle to give their offering and tithes.
5. What is the music like?
IPFA Church is a contemporary church with modern music.
While we value our Christian heritage which includes songs from the centuries before, we appreciate that different people like different types of music.
During the music time, many people will stand and sing. This is a way that some people like to express themselves. If you feel comfortable, feel free to join in or simply stay seated and just enjoy the music.
6. Do I have to do anything?
You are our valued guest. Please sit back, relax and enjoy your time with us.
During the service, we will often ask if there are any new people visiting with us. Because of the number of people in our services, it is often difficult for us to know if it is your first time. When we ask if there are new people and if you feel comfortable, all you have to do is raise your hand and one of the hosts will give you a new visitor information pack. Of course, if you would prefer not to raise your hand, that’s fine and you are able to collect the information pack from the Usher at the tail end of the service.
Each service we endeavour to provide the opportunity for people to become Christians. A Christian is simply a follower of Christ. At the end of most services, we will invite anyone that would like to make this commitment to do so. During this time, if you would like to make that commitment, we will ask that you briefly raise your hand as an acknowledgment of your commitment. As a matter of courtesy and privacy, we ask this while in the mode of prayer where no one looks around or talks – it is a matter between you and God. If you do make this decision and raise your hand, the minister will pray a prayer which many others will pray also and we encourage you to join in. If you have made that commitment for the first time, we have a team of specially trained assistants that would love to meet with you and answer any questions you may have. If you do not feel ready to make that commitment, that is fine, please enjoy yourself.
7. What about my kids?
If you have a young child, Kids Team offers a full kids program of games, activities and teaching. Our Kids program is run in a separate room during the main services. Children are brought back for collection at the end of each service.
If you have any questions, or would like to meet the Kids team, please ask one of our hosts and they will be glad to help.
8. How long does the service go for?
We appreciate that Sundays are a valuable day in your week.
All of our services are 2 hours or less.
In the unusual event we are required to go later than expected, please feel free to quietly leave the service – we will not be offended.
9. Do I need a Bible or anything?
All you need is you!
We believe in the Bible and our ministers use it as the reference point for teaching.
If you have a Bible and would like to bring it, please feel free, but it is certainly not mandatory.
In saying that, if you do not have a Bible and would like to use one during the service and return, please ask one of our Ushers and they will give you a Bible. We encourage you to read the Bible as a way to follow the teaching.
The Bible is a holy text broken into different books, with each book having different chapters and each chapter having different verses. If you have not read the Bible before, we suggest you read the book of Luke first – it is one of the four “gospels” (being Matthew, Mark, Luke & John) written describing the life of Christ.
It is our hope that your online experience will give you a taste of who we are and why we love IPFA church and our community. If you have any other questions, please contact Pastor Charles Munara ([email protected] ) or give us a call on 0753056369.
Most importantly, if you choose to visit with us in person, we expect you to do nothing more than sit back and enjoy your experience at IPFA Church. Welcome!
