SMALL GROUPS
A smaller, more intimate picture of the church. As the work of Christ is accomplished through the body of believers on a large scale, small groups strive after the same goals, only on a more intimate and relational level. Ideally, small groups will enable their members to commit to pray for and encourage each other, be involved in the lives of small group families as well as the church family and its various ministries, and to continue to reach out to a lost world for Jesus Christ.
Small Group Basics Are Small Groups in the Bible? God created man for relationship with Him and others. While our natural inclination is to be secretive and not let others know our struggles, God calls us into relationship with Him as well as our brothers and sisters in Christ. Being a part of a small group equips each of us with a community of believers who can listen and stand beside us through good times and bad ( 1 Thess 5:11, Acts 2:42).
Who can join? Anyone. Contact us or call the church office at 2012109945 to find a small group to attend.
When do you get together? Small groups decide the meeting times that suit the majority of the group. Some meet weekly, while others meet monthly.
Where do you meet? Small groups can meet anywhere, but the typical location is a rotating schedule that gathers at one of the group members’ home.
What goes on at a Small Group? Each group will find the right balance of social time and spiritual discussion that suits them best. It’s important to have time to eat together and just hang out as these times help us to feel more comfortable around each other and “break the ice.” Equally important are the times when prayers and concerns are shared and the group can stay connected to how each family is doing (Matt 18:20).
Last but not least, there should be time to discuss spiritual issues. Whether answering sermon questions, going through a book of the Bible together, or watching a DVD series, this time helps the group to sharpen and learn from the Lord and from one another (Col 3:5-10).
