Brief Background
Brief History
Pastors Charles and Patricia Munara remember the old days when there was no building for the church meeting; our services took place in the open full of wind and dirt not to mention the scorching sun. Back then we were very few, just four families. Every Sunday we picked a member from each family to take part in making the service a success: Usher, Song leader, Bible teacher and Preacher of the Word.
Together, the four families shared a passion to depend on the Holy Spirit 100% for Him to lead unprecedented disciple-making and church-planting movement springing up from among us and spreading out across the East Africa region and beyond. However, this was not our ultimate goal. Our vision was Jesus and for Him alone to receive worship and praise from amongst every tribe, tongue and people group across East Africa and beyond.
In spite of the obvious challenges we faced, we were so much encouraged by God’s promises in the book of Amos which vividly described the sort of church movement we dreamt of: “Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree. “Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look blessings!” Amos 9:13-15
From that very humble beginning in September 1999, Independent Pentecostal Fellowship in Africa (IPFAC) has undergone three name changes and two meeting points over its thirteen year history. Overall, God has blessed the church, increased attendance, and allowed the congregation to make significant impact in the community.
